Root Canal Treatment

The pulp inside your tooth is essential to keeping it healthy. It can become damaged, however, by injury. It can also get infected as the result of tooth decay. The infection can spread to other areas of the root canal system, causing painful and uncomfortable abscesses. Without root canal treatment, the only other option is usually to remove the tooth.

It is always best to have root canal treatment to correct the problem, rather than losing one of your natural teeth. The procedure is not painful, and in most cases can be completed in one appointment. That includes reconstructing the tooth with a crown.

If you are currently experiencing pain or discomfort because of a problem tooth, root canal treatment will relieve that pain. That said, it is important to remember you may need root canal treatment even if you are not experiencing pain. We will know this after assessing the level of tooth decay at your next appointment.
